Letter to the Halloween Fairy (aka Switch Witch)

October 29, 2018November 25, 2018 - hellomylove Leave a comment

Halloween creeps up on me (no pun interned) EVERY year. I can’t believe it’s the end of October. I mean, we’re still slathering sunscreen on our bare arms every day here in San Diego. Halloween and 80 degree weather just never seem to make sense!

hello and welcome

I'm a very happily married, mommy of two working to find my (healthy) balance in this crazy world! An event planner for over 12 years, I secretly dream of trading the million dollar corporate events for backyard birthday parties. I’ve always been relatively healthy but since the birth of my first daughter in 2013, I have become seriously committed to learning and implementing ways to kick it up a notch. From the food we eat, to the products we put on our skin, to the thoughts we think – it’s all a part of the big picture!!

I remember sitting on the toilet (not an important I remember sitting on the toilet (not an important part of the story but it’s exactly where I was) the morning after we spent the night in the ER with her at 2 weeks old. I was scared to death that I would never feel safe again. That now that this little being was here, I’d always be vulnerable to the fears, worries, pains of my heart living outside of my body.

I was terrified. It was like I could barely see the plus side of the vulnerability that came with motherhood.

But man, the plus sides. They never end.
Yesterday I teared up watching her conquer her fear of going down the huge water slide by herself. She was so proud. That beaming lit up smile: I’d trade vulnerability every day for it.

P.s. 👆🏼this was the 2nd time in 4 years she has worn something other than a skirt or dress... all for me, must be love 🥰❤️
My loves. My heart. My why. 🥰. I was playing m My loves. My heart. My why. 🥰.

I was playing make believe with Layla this morning and she told I was the good Ursula who has 80 thousand ten potions and I said “are they love potions?” And she said yea for the 66 thousand bad guys because if they get love, they can’t be bad.

So my wish for you today is that you have love potion in your heart and you have a very GOOD day, and know you are LOVED. ❤️💕

In 2019 I spent the better part of the year fighti In 2019 I spent the better part of the year fighting for school choice. I knew if SB 276 passed that my youngest wouldn’t be allowed to go to school.

Less than a year later I was unplugging my oldest from the system, years sooner than I expected. We had originally chosen her school because she’d be there through 8th grade, learning in another language.

A couple months later and I can confidently say that neither of my kids will ever go to back to the traditional school system.

We are creating an alternative schooling environment that is more amazing, aligned and rewarding than I ever imagined. The kids are thriving, having all their needs met and more. It hasn’t been without sacrifice, tears (of only mine) and a hundred times more work than I expected... but this is it, we are in this for the long run. Happily.

I could say that when one door slams shut on you, another one opens. But I know a lot of families don’t have their school plans figured out and they might be worried heading into the 2021 school year where thousands of children will be turned away for no good reason.

I will say that there is another way. You have to know there is. If your child needs it, you will find it, create it, do it. Trust. Get creative. Network. Share. Know the options are there and that you are so supported.

We are in a time in the world where we are being called to do things differently, to pivot, to pave a new way. If you need a pep talk, I’m your gal. We can do this ❤️.
The Memory Jar. (How-to below👇). All year long The Memory Jar. (How-to below👇).
All year long the girls would say “let’s put this in the memory jar!” any time we were doing something new or memorable. Actually they’d even say it when we were doing the most mundane things 😂. I love that they were learning to be present and grateful for their experiences. Last night when we read through the memories, their eyes lit up remembering all we did and we got to celebrate the fun times all over again. And no pieces of paper mentioned the cv-word!

How - to:
- buy a jar with a lid.
- keep it on your kitchen counter in view so you don’t forget about it.
- cut small pieces of paper.
- any time the family (or one member) does something memorable, write it on a piece of paper and put it in the jar.
- at the end of the year have a little memory jar party. Pick out the memories one by one and remember the amazing year you had.
- optional: I stapled them to a piece of paper as we went so I can hang onto them a little longer!

Let me know if you plan to do this!
My ticklish snow bunnies are more than enjoying th My ticklish snow bunnies are more than enjoying their first snow experience. And I’m enjoying the family time, grateful for our flexible schedule and the beautiful places we can visit without getting on a plane. Nice slow mindful start to the year ❄️❤️.
Want 2021 to be different than 2020? Then you’l Want 2021 to be different than 2020?

Then you’ll need to live, think, and act in the ways that are in alignment with where you want to go.

Don’t assume the world will do it for you.

Don’t wait on external circumstances to dictate YOUR experience.

We are rebuilding our world, our systems and our reality. It’s not something that is done in a year. And it is not something that is done for us.

Don’t focus on how the world needs to be different this year.

Focus on what YOU want to experience this year. What you want to feel.

And then act in alignment. Create it. Do it for yourself and you’ll see how powerful you are. Then we can do it for the world (the Aquarius in me can’t forget doing it for the world).

If we think it will be done for us, we will be forever waiting.

The power is ours. It always been.
