Never Grow Up – Family Halloween Costume

Does it make me a bad Mom that I tried just about everything to talk Ellie out of being a princess for Halloween this year? I know I know…but there are just so many great ideas and she can dress up as a princess any day of the week, right!? “You can be anything you want, Ellie, a firefighter, superhero, a monster, an elephant – any thing you can think of!” (My vote was a cat lady, complete with a robe and rollers in her hair, maybe next year). “I wanna be a Princess!! What do you wanna be, Mama? You can be a firefighter, a superhero…” My power of persuasion wasn’t powerful enough.

My Breastfeeding journey: A challenge and an opportunity

My initial worries and fears about breastfeeding were relatively normal. When I was pregnant I wondered if I would produce enough milk or how much it would hurt during those first weeks.  I never worried about whether the baby or I would know how to breastfeed. How hard could it be? There’s a nipple and a mouth, put them together and ta-da! Totally natural, right?!

Ellie’s Third Birthday at the Bay

We celebrated Ellie’s first and second birthdays at the house with some fun themes (a lemonade stand and “two-two” party). This year, with a new baby sister at home, we thought getting OUT of the house would be a better bet. For her third birthday celebration, we had a fun “birthday at the bay” party. Mission Bay in San Diego is our “happy place” and so we thought it would be perfect to share with friends and family for Ellie’s special day.
