We take our wedding anniversary pretty seriously. And by seriously I mean that we make it a priority to get away (just the two of us) for some fun. With kids and busy lives, sometimes it’s easier to brush off special occasions and keep it super simple. It’s not that we NEED more, its just that it feels really good to make together-time a priority and an anniversary is a perfect excuse for that.
This year we chose to spend our sixth anniversary in Palm Springs. October is a great time to make the 2-hour drive. 80+ degree weather and not heavy into busy season, it’s pretty ideal. We went out in the middle of the week to avoid the expensive weekend hotel rates. I swear on Wednesday and Thursday it was like we had the whole place to ourselves.
Our villa was adorable and the pool was perfect, so we didn’t do too much. We visited the spa for massages and took the bikes out, but otherwise hung by the pool, talked and read our books. The ultimate luxury these days! We LOVED both restaurants we ate at. First was Dish, and it was the second time we’ve eaten there. Amazing! They send out little dishes to try in between courses and the chef frequently comes by to check on you. It’s a gem! The second night we ate at Rooster and the Pig, a delicious vietmamese-american restaurant in an unassuming strip mall of sorts. There was a crowd waiting when we got there – a good sign!!
We thought the Avalon was pretty special … can we talk about this villa and THIS PATIO!?
There are a few traditions we do every anniversary and I’m proud to say we did them all this year (still need to do our family photo). I love looking through our photo album and reliving our wedding, it doesn’t seem to get old. Even though we do ;).
Where is that dress from!?
Its the WAYF brand from Nordstrom! 🙂
Happy anniversary! What a beautiful trip!
I love that you two make special time for your Anniversary for just you two! It’s such an important thing in a marriage and I LOVE your annual traditions – something that I would love to do in my life…when that time comes! 😉
